Alberta accepts digital pink cards.
Did you know that in August 2019, Alberta began allowing drivers to use electronic Financial Responsibility Cards, commonly known as 'digital pink cards' as proof of insurance? With the ongoing Canadian postal strike, there’s no better time to take advantage of Alberta’s digital pink card option for your proof of insurance!
Here’s what you should know:
- Optional: Insurers can provide digital or paper pink cards—you get to choose what works best for you!
- Always Pink: Digital cards must still feature the iconic pink color.
- Privacy Matters: Insurers offering digital cards must ensure your information is secure and complies with privacy laws.
- Backup Tip: Not every jurisdiction accepts digital cards yet, so carrying a paper copy when traveling is a smart move.
This change makes Alberta one of several provinces embracing digital convenience, alongside Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
