Mortgage Application ID Requirements | First Foundation

Identification Requirements for Your Mortgage Application

To complete your mortgage application, we require valid identification in compliance with federal, provincial, or territorial regulations. Please provide one of the following combinations of identification:
  • One piece from List A AND One piece from List B, or

  • Two pieces from List A

List A (These documents must contain a photograph):

  • Valid driver’s license issued in Canada

  • Current Canadian passport

  • Certificate of Canadian Citizenship

  • Permanent Resident Card

  • Certificate of Indian Status issued by the Government of Canada

  • A provincial/territorial ID card, with the individual’s photograph, issued by one of the following:

    • Insurance Corporation of British Columbia

    • Alberta Registries

    • Saskatchewan Government Insurance

    • Department of Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations

    • Department of Transportation and Public Works (Prince Edward Island)

    • Service New Brunswick

    • Department of Government Services and Lands (Newfoundland and Labrador)

    • Department of Transportation (Northwest Territories)

    • Department of Community Government and Transportation (Nunavut)

List B:

  • Birth certificate issued in Canada

  • Old Age Security card issued by the Government of Canada

  • Canadian Forces Photo Identification Card

  • Federally issued firearms license

  • A signed credit card issued by a member of the Canadian Payments Association

  • A provincial health insurance card where permitted by law (in Ontario, Manitoba, PEI, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, health cards may not be used for identification purposes)

  • Record of Landing (Citizenship and Immigration Canada Form IMM1000)

  • Temporary Resident Permit (Citizenship and Immigration Canada Form IMM1442)

  • Confirmation of Permanent Residence (Citizenship and Immigration Canada Form IMM5292)

  • Canadian Institute for the Blind (CNIB) client card with a photograph

Important Notes:

  • All IDs must be authentic, valid, and current (cannot expire within 6 months of closing date).

  • The documents provided must be government-issued.

  • Ensure your ID is clear, legible, and nothing is obscured in your submission.
